Shopify Plus and Other Plans: What Differs
3 MIN READ
Saal: Sales Agent runs on every Shopify plan. What changes between them is how an order is completed and paid, because some capabilities exist only on Shopify Plus. The app detects your plan and enables the matching flow. You do not configure this.
What Is the Same Everywhere
On every plan, agents work in your storefront, select a customer, and order in that customer's name. Permissions, the consent record, the session bar and the audit trail are identical. The order ends up on the customer's account either way.
On Shopify Plus
Plus includes Shopify's B2B features: companies, company locations, and per-company catalogs and price lists. The app uses them. An agent selects not just a customer but the company and location they are ordering for. The catalog, prices and delivery locations that appear are the ones that company is entitled to. The agent completes checkout directly, in one sitting, and can pay using a payment method the company has saved. For a rep taking an order on a call, this means the order is done before the call ends — no waiting for the customer to pay a link later.
On All Other Plans
Companies and B2B catalogs are not available outside Plus, so the app works with plain customer accounts. Agents select a customer directly, and there is no company or location step. Prices are whatever that customer would normally see. Instead of completing checkout, the app creates a draft order. You choose whether the customer is emailed an invoice with a payment link automatically. If you turn that off, a link to the invoice is shown to the agent instead, so they can send it themselves or read it out on the call. The customer pays through that link. The order is on their account from the start.
Which You Need
If you are already on Plus with B2B set up, use the Plus flow — it is the shorter path for your reps and the only one that can charge a saved company card. If you are not on Plus, the draft order flow does the job that matters: your reps stop retyping orders into the admin, and the order lands on the right account with a consent record. The customer pays a link rather than the rep taking payment. Upgrading to Plus for this app alone is not worth it. Plus makes sense for other reasons, and if you are there already, this is one more thing it buys you.
If You Change Plans
The app follows your Shopify plan. If you move onto Plus, the company and location step appears once your B2B setup exists, and agents can complete checkout directly. If you move off Plus, the app falls back to the draft order flow. Existing orders and consent records are unaffected by a plan change.
